A real gem of an ecological extra virgin olive oil, highly unusual in that it comes from the northerly region of La Rioja. Trees in this more temperate region produce far fewer olives but with a higher intensity of flavour. The result is a very distinctive fresh, grassy green oil with a rounded, sweet aftertaste with none of the bitterness you normally get with greener oils.

500ml bottle.

A real gem of an ecological extra virgin olive oil, highly unusual in that it comes from the northerly region of La Rioja and is 100% arbequina olives. In fact this is a hobby for the makers of our Cameros cheese, they only have 15 hectares of trees which is enough to produce about 15,000 bottles a year (7,500 litres).

The olive trees in this more temperate region less productive than their more southerly equivalents - fewer olives means a higher intensity of flavour. In addition, the olives are picked exclusively by hand and are pressed almost immediately after harvest. The olives are less agressively pressed so the oil has a very distinctive fresh, grassy green taste with a rounded, sweet aftertaste and a hint of pepper you get with greener oils.

500ml bottle.

Top tip: don't slosh this stuff around! Instead, drizzle on fish, such as sea bass, before lightly baking. The pepper in the oil works really well with the gentle sweetness of the fish.
